Faculty Profile The history of Faculty of Foreign Studies (FFS), Jiangxi University of Science & Technology, can be traced back to the Department of Foreign Languages, which was founded in 1993 and had only a two-year English major of Foreign Trade. In 1997, the Department began to enroll the undergraduates of the International Business English major nation-wide. In 2001, because of the consolidation of the university’s teaching institutions, the Department of Foreign Languages and the Department of Social Science were amalgamated into Faculty of Liberal Arts & Law. In 2003, Faculty of Foreign Studies (FFS) was founded and the International Economic & Trade major was set up at the same time. In 2007, FFS will open the newly-created Japanese major to the national enrollment. FFS consists of 6 teaching and research sections in charge of the non-English majors (undergraduates and postgraduates), the English majors, the Japanese majors and the International Economics & Trade majors. FFS also has the Practice Center, the Training Center and the Faculty library. FFS has a faculty of 61, including 4 professors, 14 associate professors, 20 lecturers and 19 assistants, 45 of which have higher academic credentials. Moreover, 33 foreign specialists from the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, Australia and other countries have worked here. FFS implements the teaching-centered and the research-driven strategy in an effort to gain a strong foothold in Jiangxi province and meet the needs of the Non-ferrous Metal Industry. For 14 years, FFS has accomplished conferring over 600 undergraduate degrees. And all the graduates are playing important roles in all walks of life such as education, foreign affairs, trade, culture and tourism, science and technology etc..
